Students who have demonstrated an interest in aerospace-related science or engineering, space science research, and/or space science education are encouraged to apply. The Program Award for Technical and Higher-Education (PATH), sponsored by National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), offers scholarships to students from Minority Serving Institutions pursuing a technical certificate, associate, bachelor, or graduate degree in a science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM)-discipline that supports the critical needs of the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE). The NSE has a wide array of critical needs that range from technical expertise and skilled trades to STEM research. Important areas of research include nuclear security, advanced manufacturing, cybersecurity, engineering, and energy systems.
PATH is committed to serving diverse populations, providing education and programs that serve students with unique backgrounds, circumstances, needs, notions, and beliefs.
NNSA Mission Directorates include:
- Maintaining the Stockpile
- Nonproliferation
- Counterterrorism and Counterproliferation
- Powering the Nuclear Navy
Why should I apply?
The NNSA PATH Scholarship will:
- Provide financial support to students who demonstrate a desire to pursue a STEM-focused academic pathway that applies to the NNSA Mission Directorate.
- Expose students to STEM-related research taking place at community colleges, undergraduate and graduate colleges and universities.
- Connect students to other NNSA MSI-supported students, faculty, and alumni.
- Foster an understanding of NNSA Mission Directorate mission and introduce students to the NNSA MSI Internship Program.
- Expose students to STEM-based careers at NNSA and the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE)
What are the benefits?
Scholarships will start on September 1st and will end May 31st regardless of the beginning and ending of the academic terms.
- Technical Certification/Two-year certificate/degree: $4, 500/year for up to 2 years
- Four-year Undergraduate Degree: $10,000/year for up to 4 years
- Graduate Degree: $20,000/year up to 2 years
- Be a U.S. citizen or a Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) at the time of application.
- Be 18 years of age by September 1, 2024.
- Meet one of the following conditions at the time of application:
- Planning to be enrolled as an undergraduate (a freshman, sophomore or junior student) at a Minority Serving Institution for the 2024-2025 academic year.
- Planning to be enrolled as a first-year graduate student at a Minority Serving Institution for the 2024-2025 academic year.
- Planning to be enrolled as a PhD student at a Minority Serving Institution for the 2024-2025 academic year.
- Be pursuing or plan to pursue a degree in a STEM discipline in one or more fields that supports the critical needs of the Nuclear Security Enterprise. The enterprise has a wide array of critical needs that range from technical expertise and skilled trades to STEM research. Important areas of research include nuclear security, advanced manufacturing, cybersecurity, engineering, and energy systems.

- Meet the minimum grade point average (GPA) requirements for the corresponding academic level listed below:
- One-to-two-year degree or certification: 2.5
- Four-year undergraduate degree: 3.0
- Graduate degree: 3.2 minimum

2024-2025 Patti Johnson Wilson Foundation Scholarship
The Patti Johnson Wilson Foundation grants scholarships to full-time undergraduate students majoring in music, engineering, or liberal arts. The anticipated academic award will be between $6,000 and $8,000 for the academic year. In granting scholarships, the Foundation trustees consider the academic record, financial need, professor’s letter of recommendation, and the applicant’s desire to supplement his or her college expenses through part-time employment. The awards are made at the sole discretion of the Foundation trustees. To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must me the following qualifications:
- Must be enrolled full-time
- Must be a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior
- Must be majoring in Music, Engineering, or Liberal Arts (Anthropology, Classics, English, History, Languages, Literature, Philosophy, and Sociology)
- Must have minimum GPA of 3.5
- Must work part-time
- The trustees prefer that applicants work at least ten hours per week
Please turn in the application to the Financial Aid Office (Buchanan Hall, Room 105) by Friday, March 18th, by 5:00pm. The application may be found online here. Limited physical copies are available at the Engineering Dean’s Office in Carson Engineering Center, room 107 during normal business hours.

Professionally Engineering the Future Scholarship: Deadline is March 1
- Professionally Engineering the Future Scholarship deadline. Hopefully, your students have heard of it and are well on their way to completing applications for this next year. If not, there is still time! Our scholarship is managed by the Oklahoma City Community Foundation (OCCF). OCCF has a universal application and then the board has a few supplemental questions for the Professionally Engineering the Future Scholarship. To provide a bit of history and information about our scholarship:
The OKPELS Professionally Engineering the Future Scholarship was established September 27, 2018, to benefit and support creative and diverse student leaders whose goals are directed towards Professionally Engineering the Future through the principled practice of engineering as a future Engineer Intern (E.I.) and Professional Engineer (P.E.). This scholarship is an endowed fund of the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. Since its creation, the OK Board has awarded a total of $521,250. Typically, we award between 35 and 50 scholarships each year, on average, each is between $2,000 and $6,000. Last year, we awarded 40 scholarships totaling $105,000.
Scholarship Eligibility:
• Applicants must be attending a university in Oklahoma and enrolled in an undergraduate professional degree program accredited by EAC/ABET or ETAC/ABET for Engineering or Engineering Technology.
• Applicants must be full-time students pursuing their first bachelor’s degree.
• The scholarship is available to all eligible applicants entering their third, fourth or fifth year of school in Fall 2022.
• Applicants must have a collegiate GPA ≥ 2.5.
• Financial need is considered.
• Preference may be given to students who have graduated from an Oklahoma high school.
The OKPELS Professionally Engineering the Future Scholarship is a one-time award; recipients of this scholarship are invited to reapply. Recipients may not receive the award more than 3 times. Funds may be used for tuition, fees, required supplies and book expenses. Payments are made in two installments (fall and spring semester) each academic year directly to the student’s school, after proof of enrollment has been provided to the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. Payments are issued in the academic year immediately following the application year.
The deadline is March 1; however, students DO need to go ahead and start on their applications now to make sure they have time to get their transcripts and letters in on time.

Frances Koop Parsons/AT&T Pioneers Memorial Scholarship for First-time Freshmen
The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education assists in the administration of the Frances Koop Parsons/AT&T Pioneers Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship program was established through the AT&T Pioneers to assist Oklahoma students in obtaining their educational goals. The recipients of this scholarship will receive a $1,000 cash award to be used at an eligible Oklahoma career technology center, two-year college, or four-year university. This scholarship is open to first-time freshmen with at least a 3.0 high school GPA and whose family income does not exceed $75,000. The 2024-25 application is attached and must be postmarked on or before March 22, 2024. Applications without high school transcripts or income documentation will not be considered. Deadline Reminder for Summer Internship Opportunities at DOE National Laboratories
There’s still time to apply for the summer 2024 Community College Internships (CCI) and Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) programs!
These programs, sponsored and managed by the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science’s Office of Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists (WDTS) in collaboration with DOE national laboratories, provide internship opportunities at national labs for college students and recent graduates.
The deadline to apply for the summer 2024 term is January 9, 2024, at 5 p.m. ET.
About the CCI Program
The Community College Internships (CCI) program encourages community college students to enter technical careers relevant to the DOE mission by providing technical training experiences at DOE national laboratories. Selected students contribute to technologies or instrumentation projects under the guidance of laboratory scientists or engineers.

About the SULI Program
The Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) program encourages undergraduate students and recent graduates to pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers by providing research experiences at DOE national laboratories.
