Campus Tour Guide Application NOW OPEN!

Tour Guide Applications that are currently LIVE on jobs.ou.eduREQUISITION # 210619  The deadline to apply is Friday, May 7, 2021 at 5 PM. Students who apply are able to start working in July, if their schedule allows, however the position is primarily for August 2021 – May 2022. We will be conducting interviews once Marissa Henderson returns from maternity leave in June 2021. Please direct questions to myself while she is out of the office.

Each of you work with many incredible students and it is my goal to hire and train some of the best and most diverse students to serve as Campus Tour Guides. Each of your office’s serve as an important role on our Campus Tour experience, so we hope to have Tour Guides who can represent all parts of campus. We are so grateful for your partnership and look forward to working with you to train on guides on sharing the most updated and accurate information about your office. 

If you have any students in mind who would make a GREAT tour guides, please send me their names! The more I know, the better. I would love for you to advocate for some of your students.

 

We are looking for students who:

     Applicants should be comfortable speaking in front of groups of various sizes (large and small) and be able to engage in conversations with people of various backgrounds. 

     Applicants should have a desire to work with a diverse group of fellow students in a team environment.

     Applicants should be flexible to adapt in various situations and be able to quickly think on their feet.

     Applicants need to be highly motivated, organized, timely, welcoming, and familiar with the OU campus and resources.

     Applicants should be in good academic standing with the University of Oklahoma.

SEED Scholars Application

Sooner Engineering Education Scholarships

Six to ten Boggs Family SEED Scholarships are available for Fall 2021 with possible renewal. Each scholarship is $1,000 to $2,000 depending on availability.

Sooner Engineering Education (SEED) is a pK-12 outreach program that teaches students about engineering. As a member of the SEED Center outreach team, Scholars assist and eventually lead planning, organizing, and running educational outreach activities. Each Scholar will commit, on average, six hours per week to support SEED activities and should have at least two week-day mornings free from coursework obligations. Scholars must have a 2.75 GPA and maintain full-time enrollment.

Watermark Scholarship for Women in STEM

The application period is now open for the Watermark Scholars program! 

Watermark is offering women in STEM scholarships for the fall 2021 academic term to provide much-needed support for college students pursuing Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)-related studies and careers.

Two students will be selected from the pool of applicants, and awardees will each receive $5,000 to help continue their education.

To participate in the Watermark Scholars program, applicants are asked to submit either a written essay, up to 500 words, or a short video on the topic of “Who has inspired you to pursue a career in science or technology, and what do you want to achieve upon graduation?” We’re looking for students who have been inspired by recent events and changes in learning and want to make a difference in their careers!

Faculty Research Opportunity

 Faculty-Student Team Defense Lab Research Program

The Faculty-Student Team Defense Lab Research Program provides the opportunity for a faculty member and an undergraduate student, whom the selected faculty member chooses, to work with a Department of Defense scientist for a 10-week summer research experience. Faculty are encouraged to apply for an opportunity that aligns with their research interests to provide the most relevant experience. The selected participants will receive a stipend (for faculty the stipend is $1,800/week).

 

All of the research experiences this year will be virtual in nature due to the pandemic. We still have three research opportunities to fill and would love to have you, as a faculty member, apply to them. After the faculty member for each opportunity is selected by the DoD mentor, the faculty member will then select one of their students with whom they wish to be paired.
