Professionally Engineering the Future Scholarship: Deadline is March 1

  1. Professionally Engineering the Future Scholarship deadline. Hopefully, your students have heard of it and are well on their way to completing applications for this next year. If not, there is still time! Our scholarship is managed by the Oklahoma City Community Foundation (OCCF). OCCF has a universal application and then the board has a few supplemental questions for the Professionally Engineering the Future Scholarship.  The link for the scholarship is https://occf.org/scholarships/ .

To provide a bit of history and information about our scholarship:

The OKPELS Professionally Engineering the Future Scholarship was established September 27, 2018, to benefit and support creative and diverse student leaders whose goals are directed towards Professionally Engineering the Future through the principled practice of engineering as a future Engineer Intern (E.I.) and Professional Engineer (P.E.). This scholarship is an endowed fund of the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. Since its creation, the OK Board has awarded a total of $521,250. Typically, we award between 35 and 50 scholarships each year, on average, each is between $2,000 and $6,000. Last year, we awarded 40 scholarships totaling $105,000.

Scholarship Eligibility:

Applicants must be attending a university in Oklahoma and enrolled in an undergraduate professional degree program accredited by EAC/ABET or ETAC/ABET for Engineering or Engineering Technology.

Applicants must be full-time students pursuing their first bachelor’s degree.

The scholarship is available to all eligible applicants entering their third, fourth or fifth year of school in Fall 2022.

Applicants must have a collegiate GPA  2.5.

        Financial need is considered.

Preference may be given to students who have graduated from an Oklahoma high school.

The OKPELS Professionally Engineering the Future Scholarship is a one-time award; recipients of this scholarship are invited to reapply. Recipients may not receive the award more than 3 times. Funds may be used for tuition, fees, required supplies and book expenses. Payments are made in two installments (fall and spring semester) each academic year directly to the student’s school, after proof of enrollment has been provided to the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. Payments are issued in the academic year immediately following the application year.

The deadline is March 1; however, students DO need to go ahead and start on their applications now to make sure they have time to get their transcripts and letters in on time.
