P rofessionally E ngineering the Future Scholarship
  The Oklahoma State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors (OKPELS) is excited to announce the 2nd year of the Professionally Engineering the Future Scholarship.  The scholarship's purpose is to benefit and support creative and diverse student leaders entering their first professional degree program in the field of Engineering or Engineering Technology, whose goals are directed towards Professionally Engineering the Future through the principled practice of engineering. 
 The scholarship is an endowed fund established by OKPELS and is administered through the Oklahoma City Community Foundation (OCCF).   All applications must be submitted through the OCCF website.  Detailed instructions on “How to Apply” can be found at www.occf.org/scholarships/.       Award:  $2,000 - $6,000 (up to 50 scholarships awarded statewide)  At least one recipient will be selected from each qualifying university  Funds may be used for tuition, fees, required supplies, and book expenses  Payments are made in two installments (fall and spring semester) each academic year directly to the student’s school after proof of enrollment has been provided to the OCCF.  Recipients may reapply the following year  Financial need will be considered  Preference will be given for students who graduated from an Oklahoma high school 
 Eligible Applicants must:  Be entered into an ABET accredited professional degree program for Engineering or Engineering Technology at an Oklahoma university – all disciplines of engineering qualify  Be full-time students entering their third, fourth or fifth year of school earning their first professional degree  Have a collegiate GPA ≥ 2.5  Be a legal resident of the State of Oklahoma for not less than 3 years prior to the date of application, OR, have graduated from an Oklahoma high school, OR, be an Oklahoma resident who has attended an Oklahoma college or university for 1 year prior to application

  FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
  1.  How do I apply for a scholarship?  Detailed instructions regarding the application process can be found at www.occf.org/scholarships/    2.  How much does it cost to apply?  There is no charge to apply for an OCCF scholarship.    3.  Is there just one application to fill out?  No.  Each scholarship has its own unique application.  There is one General Application/Student Profile that collects the basic  information for each applicant; however, applicants must apply for each scholarship separately.    4.  Can I fax or email my application?  No.  Scholarship applications must be submitted online at www.occf.org/scholarships/    5.  What’s the deadline for applying?  February 15, 2020    6.  Can I get an extension if I need one?  No.  Applications sent after the deadline are considered late and will not be reviewed.    7.  Who makes the award decisions?  The OKPELS Scholarship Selection Committee    8.  How will I find out if I’ve been awarded a scholarship and will you let me know if I have not?  Applicants are notified in writing if they are selected to receive a scholarship award.  All applicants can login to  www.occf.org/scholarships/ to check on the status of an application.  A status of “not qualified” or “declined” indicates that  an applicant was not selected for an award.    9.  What happens if I am selected as a scholarship recipient?  Scholarship recipients will receive an official letter by mail, as well as an instruction sheet regarding how to claim the  scholarship.  These mailed documents will be sent to the address that was provided by the applicant on the General  Application/Student Profile.  Read the documents and respond in a timely manner.    10. What expenses can the scholarship pay?  Scholarship awards may go to payment of tuition, fees, required supplies, and book expenses.    11. Will I receive a check for my scholarship?  No. Scholarship payments are mailed directly to the school’s financial aid office.    12.  If I receive a scholarship one year, will I automatically receive an award for the following year?  No, but recipients are encouraged to reapply again.  An individual may not receive the scholarship more than three times.    13. What happens if I move or change schools after I’ve been awarded a scholarship?  Award recipients who move should contact the scholarship staff at OCCF and update their address.  Recipients who change schools should also notify OCCF of the change.  If the change is to an Oklahoma university and the  recipient remains in an EAC/ABET or ETAC/ABET accredited program, then the scholarship will remain.  If the student is no  longer enrolled in an EAC/ABET or ETAC/ABET accredited program, then the scholarship will not be awarded.    14. I received a scholarship and would like to send a thank‐you note.  Where should I send my letter?  Please send thank you notes to the OCCF.  The mailing address is:  Oklahoma City Community Foundation  P.O. Molitoris Leadership Scholarship for Undergraduates

Part of the WTS goal of fostering the development of women in the transportation field can be realized by encouraging bright new professionals to undertake careers in transportation. The WTS Molitoris Leadership Scholarship is awarded to women pursuing undergraduate studies in transportation or a related field who demonstrate leadership skills, ability, and interest.

The purpose of the WTS Molitoris Leadership Scholarship is to motivate and reward women who demonstrate leadership in the transportation industry. The leadership, skills, and perspectives of women are essential to assure that the transportation systems of the future respond to the needs of all. Leadership does not just happen. Leaders personally invest and risk much. They must take on struggles that many would avoid and persevere to reach successful outcomes. These qualities should receive special attention in the selection of the award winner.

The Oklahoma WTS chapter is offering a local (Oklahoma-based) Molitoris Leadership Scholarship of $2,000. The winning application will then be sent to the WTS Foundation to complete for the national-level scholarship of $5,000.

The minimum criteria for selection are:

a.   GPA of 3.0 or higher.

      b.   Oklahoma resident OR currently enrolled in an Oklahoma college or university.

      c.   Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in a transportation-related field, such as transportation engineering, planning, finance, or logistics.

      d.   Plans to pursue a career in a transportation-related field.

      e.   Applicants for the Molitoris Leadership Scholarship must specifically address the issue of leadership on their personal statement.

     

Applications must be submitted s typed Word documents. Scholarships are competitive and based on the applicant's specific transportation goals, academic record, and transportation-related activities or job skills. Minority candidates are encouraged to apply. National awards will be presented during the WTS Annual Conference in May 2020, and attendance at the awards dinner is strongly recommended. WTS Sharon D. Banks Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship

WTS Sharon D. Banks Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship

WTS fosters the development of women in the transportation field by encouraging bright new professionals to undertake careers in the area of transportation. One way it does this is by awarding the WTS Sharon D. Banks Memorial Scholarship to women pursuing undergraduate studies in transportation or a related field.

The scholarship honors Sharon D. Banks, chief executive officer of AC Transit in Alameda-Contra Costa County, California. As its CEO throughout most of the 1990’s, Banks led the agency in a pioneering effort to introduce cultural and organizational changes aimed at motivating the public-transit work force. She was a member of the WTS Advisory Board and received the WTS San Francisco Chapter Woman of the Year and Employer of the Year awards.

The Oklahoma Chapter of WTS is accepting applications for the Sharon D. Banks Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship.  The local award is $2,000 and the application of the selected winner will be forwarded for consideration for the national-level scholarship of $5,000.  The minimum criteria for selection are:

a.  Must be female

b.  GPA of 3.0 or higher.

c.   Must be a resident of Oklahoma OR be currently enrolled in an Oklahoma college or university

d. Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in a transportation-related field, such as civil/structural/transportation engineering, construction management, planning, finance, or logistics.

e.  Plans to pursue a career in a transportation-related field.

  

Scholarships are competitive and based on the applicant's specific transportation goals, academic record, and transportation-related activities or job skills.  Additional considerations will be given to applicants who have not been previously selected for a WTS scholarship. 

Presentation of the local scholarship will take place at a local chapter event in March 2019; the winner’s attendance is requested.  We also request your participation on the scholarship committee in the Fall of 2020.  National awards will be presented during the WTS Annual Conference in May 2020 and attendance of the national winner is strongly recommended.

Undergraduate Scholarship Opportunity

The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) invites undergraduate students to participate in the “Autonomous Driving: Education in Communication” competition.

For the opportunity to earn a $5,000, $3,000, or $1,000 scholarship, undergraduates are asked to develop a chart or infographic to communicate the levels of autonomous driving and sensor packages required to the public.

INSIGHT Into Diversity Study Abroad Scholarship for Underrepresented Students

Studying abroad can be a life-changing experience. We know that institutions of higher education and corporate recruiters see the value in how these opportunities enhance teamwork and cultural competency skills. A study abroad experience is one of the most dynamic ways to make a student’s résumé stand out as they look to gain experience in their field of study and as they enter the workforce.

INSIGHT Into Diversity is committed to improving educational equity for all students, but especially those from underrepresented backgrounds who may not traditionally be afforded the ability or opportunity to participate in a study abroad program.

To assist in this effort, we are awarding a $2,000 scholarship to five individual students currently enrolled in a baccalaureate-granting institution, graduate school, or health profession school. The international education programs students can apply for now are for Summer 2020 and Fall 2020.

Eligibility

All applicants must:

• Be a U.S. citizen
• Be from an underrepresented group based on race, ethnicity, LGBTQ or Veteran status, or have a physical disability
• Be a current full-time student in good standing at an accredited institution of higher education including 4-year baccalaureate-granting institutions, law school, graduate school, or health professions school
• Be in the process of applying to, or accepted into, a study abroad program of at least four weeks in a single country (U.S. State Department Level 1 or 2 location) outside of the United States. Proof of program acceptance is required prior to scholarship disbursement.
• Not be a previous recipient of an INSIGHT Into Diversity Study Abroad Scholarship
