The Tulsa Post of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) is pleased to announce plans to award a minimum of three $2,000 scholarships to Junior or Senior students in Engineering, Biological Sciences and Physical Sciences programs. Our annual scholarships are named in honor of Mr. J.D. Metcalfe who was instrumental in accomplishing unprecedented and nationally recognized flood risk reduction initiatives in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was a loyal and respected member of the SAME. During his career as Tulsa Street Commissioner, Mr. Metcalfe’s vision and leadership improved the quality of life of countless Tulsans. These scholarships will recognize students whose accomplishments; associated with scholastic abilities, leadership and love of country; are honored by SAME and mirror the achievements of Mr. Metcalfe. 

Students from Langston University, Northeastern State University, Oral Roberts University, Oklahoma State University, Oklahoma University, and Tulsa University; who meet the following minimum qualifications; will be considered for the scholarship awards (Tulsa Post members can nominate students who attend any university). 

• Junior or Senior Level Engineering, Biological Science or Physical Science Student 
• 2.5 Grade Point Average 
• United States Citizen 

These scholarships are not limited to students interested in military careers. All applicants in Engineering, Biological Science, or Physical Science programs that meet the above eligibility requirements will be considered.

Artificial Intelligence in STEM

Deadline: Nov. 30, 2023  

 

Artificial intelligence (AI) is one of today’s most influential socio-technologies. This technology has permeated our daily lives, from shopping to driving, and even assisting in academics like writing papers. In STEM, AI technology is used to enhance data analysis, automate repetitive tasks, and develop sophisticated algorithms for solving complex scientific problems. For example, Nathan Boyle with the ORISE Intelligence Community Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Program is using AI to model nuclear fallout dispersion to contribute to the global effort to make nuclear energy safer.

 

To showcase AI in STEM, ORISE is hosting a research-based challenge for undergraduate students! The challenge is for students to develop an infographic to communicate how AI is used in STEM disciplines. Thorough submissions will illustrate how AI is applied in STEM fields, focusing on key principles, practical applications, pioneering uses, ethical considerations, and/or future prospects. Your infographic could win you a $5,000 scholarship!

 

The deadline for this competition is Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023, and winners will be announced late December.

2024 HBCU $10,000 Academic Scholarship: Apply by Jan 5!

We're just reaching out again to share that our 2024 HBCU Academic Scholarship is still actively considering HBCU students! 

Our Splunk Academic Scholarship is offering a $10,000 academic scholarship for up to fifteen (15) students currently pursuing a technology-related degree.

MHEFI Launches Call for Scholarships for the 2024/2025 Academic Year

The Material Handling Education Foundation, Inc. (MHEFI) has launched its Call for Scholarships for the 2024/2025 academic year. This academic year the Foundation awarded 56 scholarships totaling $200,000. We are hoping to award a similar amount for the next academic year.

Deadline to apply is Jan. 31, 2024. Applicants must first be nominated by a professor, faculty member or employer (direct supervisor/manager or senior company official).

ABOUT US
The Material Handling Education Foundation offers scholarship award opportunities to undergraduates who are pursuing a material handling, logistics, or supply chain career. The student should clearly demonstrate dedication to achieving excellence, strong leadership skills, potential for future growth as a leader and persistence in the pursuit of education.

TARGET PROGRAMS

Undergraduate students from the programs listed below that have a focus on materialhandling, logistics and/or supply chain management are encouraged to apply:

• Industrial Engineering
• Industrial Distribution
• Mechanical & Electrical Engineering
• Structural Engineering with a focus on cold-formed steel design
• Computer Science related to Material Handling
• Business & Management related to Material Handling or Supply Chain Management
• Imaging and Camera-Based Vision Systems, LIDAR Sensors and RADAR SensorsTechnologies
• Engineering Technology

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY

• Undergraduate students pursuing a material handling, logistics, or supply chain career enrolled full time at a qualified college or university in a target program (see list above). Undergraduate students can be classified as freshman, sophomore, junior or senior for the Fall 2024 term to be eligible.
• Enrolled at any non-profit college or university in the United States accredited by the Council for Higher Education.
• All applicants must be full-time students with a "B" grade point average in their major.
• Applicants must be enrolled in school for the entire academic year (Fall 2024 and Spring 2025) without interruption barring illness, emergency or military service.
• Scholarship awards cannot be used for study abroad programs/semesters or for summer school classes.

Applications for a four-year, $60,000 OG&E Positive Energy Scholarship open Dec. 1!

Students can apply for the OG&E Positive Energy Scholarship, a four-year, $60,000 scholarship award. Since 2018, we’ve awarded 15 scholarships – totaling $900,000 – to high school seniors who commit to attending college in Oklahoma or Arkansas. Each year, we award scholarships to three graduating seniors in the OG&E service area. Mark your calendars to apply here starting December 1. Applications will be accepted through February 15, 2024.

Anthony Ihedoha Anaebere, Sr. Memorial Scholarship

My family and I administer the Anthony Ihedoha Anaebere, Sr. Memorial Scholarship named in honor of our father, Anthony Ihedoha Anaebere, Sr., who passed away on June 6, 2015. We will award a scholarship to one Nigerian-born or first generation Nigerian-American student pursuing undergraduate or graduate engineering studies from an accredited college/university in the United States of America.

 

The scholarship award for the 2023-2024 academic school year will be in the amount of: $1,000
